SUTTON, W.Va. – February 25, 2015 – The West Virginia FILMmakers Festival, which will be held in Sutton’s Elk Theatre the weekend of October 2-4 is expanding its winner categories this year.
“Exciting news this year is that we are including a WV FILMmaker winner in each category,” festival director Caitlin Renée Campbell said. “We have a special interest in films shot in West Virginia, about West Virginia and made by West Virginians. In our 14th year, we reached out to include films and filmmakers worldwide. Opening the festival up has led to an impressive list of submissions the last two years.” Call for Submissions begins March 1st via FilmFreeway and ends May 1, 2015.
Categories in this years festival competition include: Best Student Short Film; Best WV Student Short Film; Best Short Documentary; Best WV Short Documentary; Best Feature Documentary; Best WV Feature Documentary;
Best Short Film; Best WV Short Film; Best Feature Film; Best WV Feature Film;
Best Animation/Experimental/Music Video; and Best WV Animation/Experimental/Music Video. “This year, as is our tradition, we will select a West Virginia Filmmaker of the Year,” Campbell said.
