SUTTON, W.Va. – September 2, 2016 – West Virginia FILMmakers Festival is pleased to announce Blenko Glass Company has created the West Virginia FILMmaker Impact and category awards for this year’s festival. The festival will be held at the Elk Theatre in Sutton from Friday, September 30, through Sunday, October 2.
Blenko Glass USA is an American institution and has been in business since 1893 and located in Milton, W.Va., since 1921. Exquisite color, skilled craftsmen, and imaginative designs have made Blenko famous in the time-honored craft of hand-blown glass. In a world of ever-increasing automation, Blenko prides itself in paying particular attention to the forms and designs of its handcrafted products. We all need, now more than ever, hand-made possessions that are unique and inspiring. Blenko Glass Company has been a family-owned-and-operated company since 1893.
The handcrafted Blenko FILMmaker awards will be etched by Touch of Glass of Hurricane, WV. Touch of Glass uses stone-wheel engraving and sand carving to create products that fill the need for “something special.”
Touch of Glass business began in 1979 by selling stone-wheel engraved crystal on a home party plan, later moving also into reproductions of antique lighting fixtures, mirrors and sconces for companies that supply the interior design industry. As markets increased, sand carving was added to meet the needs of corporate, organizational and government entities desiring special awards and gifts.
The West Virginia FILMmakers Festival is pleased to collaborate with Blenko Glass Company and Touch of Glass to award FILMmakers with one of a kind, authentic handcrafted West Virginia Blenko awards.
The FILMmaker of the Year Award, since its inception, has been designed by artist Bill Hopen (billhopen.com).
